Is WFPB (Whole Foods, Plant Based) like Vegan?
It is similar in that they eat only plant foods and no animal products, however, Vegans don’t focus on unprocessed or minimally processed (as close to their original state as possible) foods like the WFPB lifestyle does.
Why No Oil?
Oil is pure fat no matter if the source is plant based or not.
What if I can’t give up my favorite foods like cheese?
Start SLOW! One meal at a time. Don’t expect plant-based foods to “taste like” a food you currently eat. Lifestyle changes are a process and even small changes to plant-based eating can have positive effects on your health. And DON’T be hard on yourself if you “fall off the wagon”. We are all human and the more you eat plant-based, when you do fall away, your body will tell you what those foods are doing to your system! Be adventurous! This way of eating is fun! I am here to support you an answer any questions you may have!
What about protein? Will I get enough on a plant-based diet?
YES!!! Did you know that almost ALL foods except oils contain protein! You can get protein from fruits, vegetables, seeds, beans, etc. Plant based foods are also loaded with plenty of vitamins, minerals and calcium!
Is eating plant-based just eating salads?
NO!!!! Plant based eating offers a wide array of tastes, smells and textures. Anything from appetizers, condiments, sauces, entrees, veggie burgers, desserts and of course salads!
Isn’t it expensive to eat a plant-based diet?
It doesn’t have to be if you shop seasonally and plan your meals around locally available items. Buying in bulk and batch cooking at home saves you $ as well. Investment in some key pieces of kitchen equipment, such as an Instant Pot can be great timesavers as well!
