Cashew Alfredo Sauce

This is a creamy dairy free version of the traditional Alfredo sauce. Delicioso!

  • High Speed Blender
  • small saucepan


  • ½ C Cashews, unsalted
  • 1 C Water (reserve water to thin sauce)
  • ¼ C Nutritional Yeast
  • 4 large Garlic Cloves, fresh
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice, fresh squeezed (can sub white wine vinegar)
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic, granulated
  • 3 TBSP Cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper (Adjust amount to taste)


  • Soak Cashews in hot water for about 30 minutes.
  • While cashews are soaking, add remaining ingredients to the high speed blender.
  • Once your cashews are soaked, drain the liquid and reserve it to thin the sauce later. Add the cashews to the high speed blender. Blend on high for a few minutes. Blend sauce until it is smooth and creamy.
  • Once the sauce is smooth. transfer the sauce to a small sauce pan.
  • Over medium-high heat, cook and stir sauce for about 5 minutes or until the sauce reaches desired consistency. If your sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved water from the cashews and mix well.
  • Pour over your favorite cooked pasta, potatoes or vegetables!


This versatile sauce can be used as a topping for sweet potatoes or baked potatoes.
Add your favorite cooked vegetable to your pasta! I love to add peas or broccoli!
Add sauteed mushrooms and use in casseroles as a cream of mushroom sauce.
Use this sauce as the base for a “white” pizza! Top with mushrooms, onions, artichokes, olives and more!

This is a great versatile sauce that can be used over pasta, potatoes or vegetables. Delicious and good for you!
